What Is EFT Tapping?

A simple tool to help you release emotional stress, overcome limiting beliefs, and create lasting change

Have you ever found yourself thinking:

“I know what I need to do… so why do I keep getting stuck?”

You know you shouldn’t overthink.

You know you should be more confident.

You know the past is over.

You know you deserve more.

And yet something inside keeps pulling you back into the same patterns.

Can you relate to that?

If so, you’re not alone.

One of the biggest misconceptions about personal growth is that change happens through information alone.

But here’s what I’ve realised.

Most people don’t struggle because they lack information.

They struggle because unresolved emotions, old experiences, fears, and subconscious beliefs are quietly influencing how they think, feel, and behave.

This is where EFT Tapping can help.

What Is EFT?

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique.

It is often called Tapping because it involves gently tapping on specific acupressure points on the face and body while focusing on a thought, emotion, memory, belief, or challenge.

At first, EFT can seem a little unusual or even funny.

After all, how can tapping on your face while talking about a problem possibly help?

I had the same question when I first discovered it.

But over time, I witnessed something fascinating.

When people allow themselves to acknowledge what they’re truly feeling and combine that tapping... something changes within instantly.

Anxiety goes down.

You feel calmer

Healing starts happening

People begin reacting and responding differently to situations that once felt stressful and overwhelming.

Think of EFT as emotional housekeeping.

Just as we regularly clean our homes, our emotional world also collects stress, disappointment, fear, frustration, guilt, grief, and negative experiences that don’t always get fully processed.

EFT gives us a simple way to work with those emotions instead of carrying them indefinitely.

What Can EFT help with?

People use EFT for many different reasons.

Some come for emotional healing.

Others come for personal growth, performance, relationships, or manifestation.

Common areas where people use EFT include:

  • Stress and overwhelm

  • Anxiety and overthinking

  • Fear and self-doubt

  • Confidence and self-worth

  • Emotional triggers

  • Public speaking fears

  • Relationship challenges

  • Money blocks

  • Business and career growth

  • Performance anxiety

  • Emotional eating

  • Grief and loss

  • Life transitions

  • Manifestation and abundance work

I have personally used EFT for anxiety, fear of closed spaces (claustrophobia), morning sickness during pregnancy, heal my own back ache and much more.

How does EFT Work?

There are different ways people explain EFT.

Some focus on the body’s energy system.

Others focus on neuroscience and emotional regulation.

Personally, I like to keep it simple.

When we experience stress, fear, anxiety, or emotional pain, our nervous system responds.

Sometimes those emotional responses become deeply conditioned.

EFT creates an opportunity to bring awareness to those emotions while simultaneously introducing a calming physical process through tapping.

Many people report feeling calmer, clearer, and more emotionally regulated after a tapping session.

While researchers continue exploring exactly how EFT works, millions of people around the world use it as a practical tool for emotional wellbeing.

A Brief History of EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique was developed by Gary Craig in the 1990s.

Building on earlier work in energy psychology, he created a simplified tapping process that made these techniques easier for everyday people to learn and use.

Over the past three decades, EFT has spread globally and is now used by coaches, therapists, healthcare professionals, educators, parents, entrepreneurs, and individuals seeking emotional wellbeing and personal growth.

Today, EFT is one of the most widely recognized tapping modalities in the world.

What Does the Research Say?

One of the reasons I was initially drawn to EFT is that it sits at an interesting intersection between ancient wisdom, emotional wellbeing, and modern research.

Researchers have explored EFT in areas such as:

  • Stress reduction

  • Anxiety

  • Emotional wellbeing

  • Resilience

  • Performance

  • PTSD

  • Physical symptoms influenced by stress

While no single tool works for everyone, the growing body of EFT research has contributed to its increasing acceptance around the world.

If you’re curious about the science, I highly recommend this presentation by EFT researcher Dr. Peta Stapleton.

My Vision for EFT in India

I believe Emotional Freedom Technique has the potential to become one of the most important life skills of our generation.

We teach children mathematics.

We teach science.

We teach professional skills.

But very few of us are ever taught how to process emotions, regulate stress, navigate fear, or work with the subconscious patterns that shape our lives.

My vision is simple.

To make EFT a household skill across India.

A tool that can be used by parents, children, teachers, students, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and corporate teams.

Because emotional wellbeing should not be a luxury.

It should be a life skill available to everyone.
