@etsyin is a wonderful platform to sell handmade & creative items. But is it for you?
It's important to keep in mind that the customer base of Etsy is predominantly from USA & UK
So, here are some points to help you decide if you should sell on Etsy:
❶ Is your product unique for the international audience?
If yes, then Etsy will be a superb marketplace for you. But incase your product is similar to hundred of other products online, then you will find it a bit more difficult to attract customers.
❷ Can customers buy the same product at a lower rate from sellers in their own country?
Keep in mind that International shipping is very expensive. So how will you deliver the product to your customers economically?
❸ Who is your target customer?
If your customers are primarily from India then you should explore Indian marketplaces but if you are interested in building an international client base, then you should definitely be on Etsy.
❹ Selling on Etsy takes time & effort.
Don't be under the false impression that you will automatically get sales by simply listing your products. You "will" need to promote your etsy store, drive traffic to it from your social media platforms, work on your key words, descriptions etc.
❺. Give selling on Etsy a shot:
Some time back, @etsyin was offering 3 month trial for Indian sellers with a zero listing fee. It would be a good idea to contact them to see if they still have the offer on! Etsy Team also hand holds you through the registration process & listing your products. So why not give it a shot?
Are you already selling on Etsy? I would love to know how it is working out for you.
